reativity moves forward through a process of generating questions, exploring problems, and seeking multiple options, and as it unfolds it includes cycles of critique, revision, and reflection. Four Indicators of creativity that students and teaching artists demonstrate across art forms, age groups, and context are persistence and discipline, tolerance for ambiguity, reflection and metaphorical thinking.”
— The Qualities of Quality: Understanding Excellence in Arts Education, The Wallace Foundation
The Alley Theatre Education Department envisions a world that uses theatre arts as a pivotal tool for creating strong and healthy communities.
Our mission is to teach our community, and particularly, our educators and students to apply the craft of theatre directly into their daily lives. Theatre will allow students and educators to foster a deeper appreciation of themselves and become successful citizens capable of speaking their truth. They will also master a variety of skills and use their creative capacities to better their lives and the general well-being of the community.
To this end, the Alley Theatre offers a number of programs designed to integrate directly into the school day that teach core standards through the art of theatre. Our programs are much more than enrichment. Our Arts Integration residencies teach STEM, English Language and Psycho-Social Learning.
Let the Alley Theatre help you boost engagement, teach difficult concepts and address multiple learning styles!
