One of Shakespeare's funniest comedies, Much Ado About Nothing is a lively showdown between the sexes. Beatrice, independent and forthright, and Benedick, a self-confessed "woman-hater," pass the time constantly goading and scorning each other. When they are thrown together to defend a friend's honor, their true feelings begin to emerge. Much Ado About Nothing is directed by Scott Schwartz (the Alley's production of Steve Martin's The Underpants and director of Matthew Broderick in The Foreigner and Golda's Balcony on Broadway). Schwartz will direct the Alley Company, who revisit Shakespeare following the popularity of Twelfth Night, Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
