Playwriting 360° Showcase

Our Playwriting 360° Showcase represents exceptional plays by teen writers from schools who participated in our Playwriting 360° residencies during the 2012-2013 school year.

Playwriting 360° is a part of the Houston Young Playwrights Exchange. The program introduces students to dramatic writing as a creative outlet. During a residency (a series of workshops and consultations), students learn about dramatic structure and develop their own 10-minute plays under the guidance of a trained teaching artist. Each student becomes a young playwright through the process of writing and revising dialogue, crafting a plot and envisioning characters. Many of the plays that come out of Playwriting 360° residencies are considered for HYPE in the summer.

Playwriting 360° residencies can fit into the scope and sequence of an English, creative writing or theatre class.
