If you are interested in brining a large group or a class to weekday and daytime performances, please consider participating in the Student Matinee Program.

What's next?

Determine which Alley Theatre plays are appropriate for your particular students and families before purchasing tickets. It is the responsibility of the school representative and principal to determine whether a play is appropriate for their particular group. Alley Theatre does not censor or edit the content of a play for the Student Matinees performances.

Choose a representative teacher, parent or staff member. This person will be responsible for communicating your school or organizations concerns to the Alley Theatre and for keeping other participating adults informed of program information and schedules.

Select the preferred show dates and the total number of tickets including students, teachers and adult chaperones. Please note that this is a public performance and the number of available tickets are limited. 

Complete the online School Night Application Form . The sooner you submit an application the better.  Applications are accepted until all of the allotted tickets have been purchased.

School Night Process

Once an application is approved, representatives need to coordinate with school administrators and organize the Student Matinee trip.  Don't forget that we provide one complimentary chaperone ticket for every 10 purchased for student matinees.

The Alley Theatre Group Sales Department will send you a contract of your reservation request. To confirm your reservation, you must provide the appropriate signatures for the contract and return to the Group Sales Department within (5) business days of receipt. If the signed contract is not received in time, the reservation will be automatically cancelled without notice.

The school representatives must arrange transportation to and from Alley Theatre.  Please note that unlike student matinees, we do not offer any assistance with loading and unloading buses.  During the School Night performances, buses must unload to a sidewalk.  Because of the one-way streets downtown, student groups will need to cross the street to get to the Alley Theatre.

Submit payment for tickets on or before the payment deadlines.  School Night tickets cost $12.50 per person.

We will only accept ONE single check, cash, or credit card (AMEX, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa). We do not accept Purchase Orders. There are NO refunds or exchanges. If payment is not made in time, the reservation will be automatically cancelled without notice.

The dates and time for the Teacher Preparation Workshops are yet to be determined.

Approximately three weeks before the play opens, the Alley Theatre Education & Community Engagement Department will provide school contacts with a play-specific teacher guide.

School Night performances are ticketed.  Before the performance, a school representative will need to collect the tickets from the box office and distribute them to students. We recommend arriving at the theatre between 6:30 and 7:00PM.  School Night performances begin at 7:30PM.

Seating for School Night performances is based on availability and determined by the Box Office Manager to accommodate all patrons.

Selection Criteria
In order to be approved for the School Night Program, several factors will be taken into consideration. Each application will be assessed in the following categories:

  1. Past participation in the Alley Theatre programs with a good track record
  2. Clear ideas about how to connect school curricula to the Alley Theatre productions and vice versa
  3. Passionate about arts and culture
  4. Wilingness to collaborate
  5. Supportive Community (parents and staff)
