After School Studios
An After School Studio is a learning and enrichment program in which students explore ensemble storytelling through games, exercises, and the creation of a live performance. Our aim is to have participants gain confidence in expressing themselves, learn to work as an ensemble, increase their understanding and appreciation of theatre, and develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills as they collaborate to create and perform their own stories, poems and plays. Our teaching artists make multiple visits to your school, community center or after-school program. Over the course of at least 8 weeks, students explore the world of theatre, learning about storytelling, acting, design and performance. Or we can use theatrical training and techniques to explore other subjects – including literacy, languages, history, or science. All of our residencies are tailored to meet the needs of your kids and families.
After School Studios occur at your location, so a site visit is required before final arrangements are made. The cost of a studio program is ultimately determined by the number of participants and the number of sessions. In general the cost is between $75 and $100 per session. Eight sessions is our minimum. The size of each studio depends on the given space. In general, a studio should have at least 6 participants and no more than 21. (A group of 22 can form two separate studio groups.) We prefer that the participants’ age range not span more than 2 years -- for example 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-16.
Bilingual Teaching Artists are available.
