Theatrical Fun & Expert Teachers
Young Performers Saturday Studios are process classes that teach students how to create and collaborate in theatre. Acting, writing, directing, vocal techniques, movement and improvisation skills are taught on a continuing and progressive basis with students constantly being challenged to expand their abilities. Occasional sharing sessions will be scheduled as students achieve certain benchmarks, but Saturday Studios focuses more on becoming better artists of the theatre.

Since classes are ongoing, it allows us to bring in specialty teachers to teach units on specific teaching methods. Such units will include: sharing focus and responsibility with Viola Spolin’s Theatre Games, emotion work with Rasa Boxes and exploring physical and vocal connections through Viewpoints and Laban Movement techniques.

Flexible Schedules& Serious Skills
We offer 26 Saturday Studio classes during the school year. There are many options for each student within the following age groups and skill levels.

• Basic (ages 8  – 10)
• Troupe (ages 8 – 10)
• Fundamentals (ages 11 – 15)
• Scene Lab (ages 11 – 15)
• Vanguard (ages 8 – 15)

With the FlexCard, families can attend classes when it is convenient. The FlexCard is stamped each time a class is taken. Saturday Studio classes are small with no more than 16 students in a group level. All students will be assessed before they begin for placement purposes. After completing three classes, advancement to a different level will be determined by teaching artists and Alley Theatre Staff.

This is a great program for inexperienced students curious about performing with an interest to learn and for seasoned students involved in other theatre and performing arts programs.

The YPS FlexCard cost $120 for 8 classes or $70 for 4 classes.

All FlexCards expire on May 19, 2012.
