BRIAN DYKSTRA is an actor, playwright, and HBO def Poet. Most recently he played Erik in The Humans at Repertory Theatre of St. Louis while his play, Education, directed by Margarett Perry, was in rehearsal for production at 59E59 in NYC. He got to drop in on that play’s final week of rehearsal and first week of performance before heading out here. Just previously he acted in his own play, Clean Alternatives. Regionally, he played LBJ in All The Way, Rothko in Red, Johnny “Rooster” Byron in Jerusalem, Heisenberg in Copenhagen, Eddie Carbone in A View From The Bridge, Elyot Chase in Private Lives, Leonard in Seminar, Lord Capulet, Macduff, Don John, Claudius, Benedick, Sir Toby Belch, etc. in corresponding Shakespearean productions. Film and TV: “Bull,” “Law & Order” (original recipe), “Knight & Day,” “Freedomland”, “Big Dogs,” “The Tick,” “Poor Behavior,” “Troubles,” HBO “Def Poetry” (as himself), and the premiere episode of “Chappelle’s Show” in the famous “Blind Hatred” sketch. As playwright he has seen productions of his plays Clean Alternatives, Hiding Behind Comets, A Play On Words, Strangerhorse, The Two of You, Spill The Wine, Forsaking All Others, Silence, and four one-man shows; Selling Out, The Jesus Factor, Cornered & Alone, and Ho! (A Xmas show for Adults).
