MICHAEL LOCHER is the Alley’s Director of Design and made his Alley debut with Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. His recent and upcoming regional credits include productions for the Guthrie Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Yale Repertory Theatre, Centerstage (Baltimore), California Shakespeare Theater, Great Lakes Theater, and PlayMakers Repertory Company. Michael’s designs have been seen Off-Broadway and at venues throughout New York and the northeast. His Bay Area credits include numerous productions with the Magic, CenterRep, and the Cutting Ball Theater, where he was a longtime artistic associate. Michael served as a professor at San Jose State University for six years before joining the Alley Theatre as Director of Design in the Summer of 2019. He also works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, specializing in work for the performing arts. Graduate: University of California San Diego, Yale School of Drama.
