OTHER CREDITS:

Vega’s songs “Luka” and “Tom’s Diner,” both from her second studio album Solitude Standing, reached the top 10 on multiple international charts in 1987. Both songs have since been covered and sampled in a number of pop iterations.
 

INTERESTING FACT:

Karlheinz Brandenburg, the German computer programmer, used Vega’s song “Tom’s Diner” to perfect the technology that would come to be known as the MP3. He found that Vega’s voice was the perfect template with which to test the purity of the audio compression that he was experimenting with. Thus Vega earned the nickname “The Mother of the MP3.”

Sheik learned piano from his grandmother, who was herself trained at Julliard.
