On October 9, 2023, the Theatre was honored to present the 2023 Alley Theatre Award for Lifetime Achievement to four theatrical legends: costume and set designer Susan Hilferty, sound designer Scott Lehrer, playwright and director Richard Nelson, and lighting designer Jennifer Tipton. Combined, these four luminaries boast an impressive record of 109 Broadway productions, five Tony Awards® including 21 nominations, one Olivier Award, one Grammy Award, nine Drama Desk Awards with an astounding 29 nominations, one Genius Award, and numerous other accolades.
The evening included an intimate moderated conversation on the Hubbard Theatre stage with the four Tony Award®-winning honorees and Artistic Director Rob Melrose, and the presentation of the Alley Theatre Awards for Lifetime Achievement. Guests then enjoyed a celebratory dinner in the Theatre’s Long Lobby.
