Costume Chronicles: Crafting The Ghost of Christmas Present
For this season’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, we decided to remake the robe worn by Christmas Present. We wanted to push the finished garment’s theatrical nature. We also needed to make an additional robe to provide a more feasible plan for the role’s understudy. We made this decision right after last season’s production closed.

Creating Victorian London with Scenic Designer Michael Locher

Designers are often tasked with introducing audiences to places they’ve never seen before, but sometimes, we’re invited to conjure the eminently familiar. Few settings and stories feel more familiar than Victorian London and A Christmas Carol.

MANIFESTING MARIACHI: HOW COLLABORATION MAKE PERFORMERS “MAGICALLY” APPEAR IN AMERICAN MARIACHI
When you enter the theatre to see our beautiful production of American Mariachi, you are met with a towering wall that evokes the billboards and neon signs of 1970s Houston. This wall has been an exciting challenge for the Alley’s Lighting Team. Throughout the show, the wall changes colors, and various signs light up to cinematically transport the audience from place to place.
