Artistic Director’s Reflections

I’m so excited about directing Sharr White’s Pictures from Home at Alley Theatre. It is a homecoming of sorts because we were involved with the early development of this play in our Alley All New Festival in 2020. Our audience was extremely enthusiastic about this play, especially its delightful sense of humor and its poignant picture of …

Managing Director’s Reflections

It is fascinating to reflect on the evolution of photography and its transformative impact on how we document and perceive our lives. Artistic Director Rob Melrose on the Alley’s Resident Acting Company

Our nine RAC actors are the only actors in this project which is nice both for company-building and to celebrate one of the last acting companies in the American Theatre, something both Richard and I feel should be cherished.

How the Alley Hand-Crafts The Wigs For AMERICAN MARIACHI

The wig department here at the Alley is already hard at work on American Mariachi. Set in the 1950s and 1970s, this production will use wigs to help indicate the passage of time. Our wigs also help the audience understand a character’s identity, age, and archetype.
