At the Alley we believe that theatre should be an enriching, entertaining, and challenging experience. Our community brings diverse experiences into the theatre with them and we wish to acknowledge that sensitivity to subject matter varies from person to person.

To assist you as you explore our programming, we include basic content advisories using the system of initials below. For example, a production labeled LNV indicates that the production contains coarse language, nudity, and violence.

Jane Eyre, based on the renowned literary classic, contains reference to suicide and brief descriptions of violence.

THORNTON WILDER’S THE EMPORIUM

Thornton Wilder’s The Emporium contains some Language and passing references to Violence and suicide in this contemporary adaptation of an unfinished play by one of America’s greatest writers.

Dial M for Murder
DIAL M FOR MURDER

In Dial M for Murder, a new adaptation of the iconic thriller, audiences can indeed expect a murder and depictions of Violence. It also contains discussion of domestic violence and a kiss between two women.

Pictures from Home contains Language, images of Nudity, and serious adult conversation in this play inspired by Larry Sultan’s seminal photographic memoir about his parents.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD

In The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, audiences can indeed expect a murder and moments of violence, as well as brief discussions of suicide, in this stage adaptation of a beloved murder-mystery classic. Haze and fog will be used during the performance.

American Mariachi

American Mariachi contains some Language, brief mentions of Violence, and depictions of early onset dementia in this heartfelt story of a young woman’s journey to become a professional mariachi. Haze, fog, and strobe lights will be used during the performance. 

Little Comedies

Little Comedies contains some mild Language, suggestions of Violence, and discussion of suicide, in this brand-new translation of short comedic plays by one of the most respected dramatists of all time.

A Christmas Carol

Children under 6 will not be admitted into the theatre. Strobe, Flashing, and Revolving Lights will be used during the performance of A Christmas Carol.
