Meet our Summer Interns
Every summer, Alley Theatre provides internships for students across our departments, including theatre production, arts administration, and non-profit marketing and management. Meet the first set of this year’s incredible interns: Isabella, Sage, Courtney, and Willow!
Cortney Murray, Human Resources Intern

University: University of North Texas, Class of 2028
Pronouns: She/her
What are you most looking forward to in your summer with the Alley?
I’m excited to spend the summer working alongside the Human Resources team. They have been nothing short of welcoming to me during my time here and have allowed me to get a behind-the-scenes look at how a professional theatre organization supports each individual’s experience. Learning about the administrative side of theatre has given me a new appreciation for the many people and processes that support the Alley’s mission, and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from the incredible team here.
What is your favorite part of working in theatre?
My favorite part of working in theatre is the people. Theatre is such a collaborative art form. From actors and directors to administrators and technicians, each person plays a role in bringing stories to life. There is something inspiring about being surrounded by people who are deeply passionate about their work and committed to creating meaningful experiences for audiences. Getting to be part of that environment every day has been one of the most rewarding parts of my summer.
Sage Stanley, Operations Intern

University: Stephen F. Austin, Class of 2028
Pronouns: They/He
What is your biggest take away from this summer so far?
As someone who’s worked mostly on the stage, and sometimes behind it, it’s been so enlightening to work on a side of theatre that is rarely represented and tremendously important. Working in operations has helped me develop an understanding of what it really takes to run a theatre, and how every aspect of our theatre is curated to give both patrons and employees an experience true to the Alley’s values.
Which play from the 2026-27 season excites you most and why?
Immediately Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. It’s my favorite play of all time, and the only thing better than reading it is watching it. The Alley’s been spectacular at reinvigorating these heavy hitting house name plays, and I’m so excited to see how they tackle this one.
What does your typical day at the Alley look like?
In operations, it’s impossible to say what a “typical day” looks like. From working in the archives of Alley history, to preparing event spaces for community engagement, our days vary tremendously. We might be helping deliver packages, restocking first aid kits, meeting up with food and beverage or janitorial or even building a desk. But if I had to give an answer in one sentence, I’d say it looks like working behind the scenes to make sure everyone at the Alley’s experience is the best that it can be.
Isabella Woodson, Development Intern

University: University of Oklahoma, Class of 2027
Pronouns: She/Her
What is your biggest take away from this summer so far?
My biggest take away so far since working at the Alley is talk to EVERYONE! Ask questions, sit in on meetings, and learn as much as you can from the people around you. The staff here wants to see you grow as theatre makers, so take full advantage of every opportunity!
What’s your favorite memory at the Alley?
My favorite memory at the Alley has been the opening night of Misery. The development team was in charge of the CenterStage Celebration, an opening night dinner that commemorates the donors of the Alley! It was super interesting to help out preparations for the event; plus, I went to watch Misery later that evening!
Which play from the 2026-27 season excites you most and why?
The production that I am most excited for The Shark is Broken. I love the movie Jaws, and getting a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes drama that took place while filming is a great premise for a play.
