I’m excited to bring Alley’s Summer Chills into the 21st Century.  Obviously, I love the work of Dame Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (and you can see Agatha Christie’s work later in the season with Death on the Nile); but it has been fun exploring more contemporary thrillers with last season’s The Da Vinci Code and Misery.  After the success of Paula Hawkin’s novel and the movie that followed it, I’m excited for Alley audiences to experience this modern thriller live on stage.  The novel has been adapted by Rachel Wagstaff and Ducan Abel.  Rachel adapted last year’s Summer Chills: Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d and together Rachel and Ducan adapted last season’s hit The Da Vinci Code.  They do a magnificent job finding what is theatrical in a novel and distilling it to its essentials.

I hope you enjoy The Girl on the Train!

Sincerely,
Rob Melrose, Alley Theatre Artistic Director
