Meet Our Interns: Summer 2025

Meet the second set of this year’s amazing interns: Karina, Pluto, Sahar, Anna, and Sophia! Alley Theatre’s internship program is a great way for college students and recent graduates to have a hands-on learning experience in the theatre industry, anywhere from production to administration. Hear from them as they reflect on their internship so far!

Karina Bozanich: Operations

Hometown: Long Beach, CA

University: Texas State University, class of 2025

What’s your favorite part of working in theatre? The love and joy that goes into every single day at work is so special. From an operations standpoint, to facilitate the work of brilliant artists is so rewarding because you can see the impact that your work has on the quality of life in the office and shops.

What are you most looking forward to in your summer with the Alley? I am most looking forward to getting to know how all the little things get done around here. We really cultivate a positive working culture, and I want to learn all the ins and outs of how to successfully achieve that.

Pluto Chavez: Lighting

Hometown: Houston, TX

University: UNC School of the Arts, class of 2028

What are you most looking forward to in your summer with the Alley? Learning as much as possible about stage electrics!

What is your biggest takeaway from this summer so far? There is SO MUCH that goes into putting up a production.

Sahar Panjwani: Human Resources

Hometown: Sugar Land, TX

University: University of Texas at Austin, class of 2025

What is your favorite memory at the Alley? My favorite memory at the alley was getting to meet all my fellow interns; can’t wait to make more mems with them!

What does your typical day at the Alley look like? A typical day at the Alley for me is getting to hangout with the HR team! I sit in on meetings where I learn a lot about what goes into helping the employees perform their very best. When I am not sitting in on meetings, I am working on projects to help find ways to make the HR process smoother. I also get to spend time with some interns throughout the week.

Anna Rigo: Marketing

Hometown: Houston, TX

University: Northwestern University, class of 2027

Which play from the 2025-26 season excites you most and why? I’m most looking forward to The Da Vinci Code! Reading the play and beginning some work on the designs has been really exciting, and it’s one that I can’t wait to see on its feet. It’s a classic Alley mystery, but the impressive technical elements are going to be a beautiful testament to the hard work of the entire staff.

What does your typical day at the Alley look like? My day to day varies quite a bit! I get to learn from and help out each member of the marketing team, so that could look like designing a graphic, attending an interview, meeting with press, drafting a blog post or email, editing photos, or crafting this very post!

Sophia Rowles: Scenery

Hometown: Katy, TX

University: Carnegie Mellon University, class of 2028

What are you most looking forward to in your summer with the Alley? Learning metalworking and welding.

Which play from the 2025-26 season excites you most and why? The Importance of Being Earnest is a play I’ve heard fantastic things about, I can’t wait to see how The Alley does it!
