In a dazzling celebration of storytelling and stagecraft, more than 375 of Houston’s cultural tastemakers gathered for Lights, Camera, Alley!, Alley Theatre Ball. It was an unforgettable evening that raised over $1.1 million in support of the theatre’s artistic excellence, education programs, and community impact. Held at The Post Oak Hotel, the evening featured Mignon and Steve Gill as visionary Ball Chairs and honored Carmen and Butch Mach.

From the moment guests arrived, they were transported into a glamorous, Hollywood-inspired dreamscape. The Grand Ballroom was reimagined as a Red Carpet spectacle, complete with a show-stopping “Alley Theatre Wall of Fame” and a high-energy Glambot experience that captured every star-worthy entrance. Designed by The Events Company, the immersive atmosphere set the tone for an evening that felt straight out of an awards show.

The program opened with inspiring remarks from Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein and Artistic Director Rob Melrose, who highlighted how vital events like the Alley Ball are in bringing world-class theatre to Houston audiences. Ball Chairs Mignon and Steve Gill followed with heartfelt remarks on the Alley’s enduring impact on their lives and the community.

Adding a theatrical twist, Resident Acting Company members Elizabeth Bunch and Dylan Godwin hosted the lively “Alley Academy Awards,” where Carmen and Butch Mach were honored as “Best BenefACTORS” for their extraordinary generosity and years of service to the Alley.

The evening reached new heights during the electrifying live auction, featuring once-in-a-lifetime experiences that only the Alley could offer, including walk-on roles in beloved productions such as A Christmas Carol and The Girl on the Train. Luxury travel packages to Bordeaux wine country, Grand Cayman, and New York City sparked spirited bidding, while the standout moment came with “The Alley Atelier Experience,” an exclusive opportunity to collaborate with acclaimed costume designer Rachel Baretto on a custom, one-of-a-kind creation brought to life by Alley artisans.

As the formal program concluded, the celebration continued in style. The dance floor came alive with the Disco Divas and The Big Beyond Band, while guests enjoyed a gourmet popcorn bar.

With its blend of glamour, generosity, and theatrical magic, Alley Ball 2026 proved once again why it remains one of Houston’s most anticipated and talked-about nights of the year.
